Boekenhoutskloof (Book-in-hotes-kloof), based in Franschhoek, was established in 1776. Located in the furthest corner of the
beautiful Franschhoek valley, the farm's name means "ravine of the Boekenhout", the Boekenhout being an indigenous Cape
Beech tree. In 1993 the farm and homestead was bought and restored and a new vineyard planting programme was established.
Cellarmaster Marc Kent has had a stellar career and built an international reputation as one of South Africa’s greatest wine
makers and Boekenhoutskloof has gained cult status due to the exquisitely balanced wines that reflect the varieties used as
much as the soil they come from. His small batch production ideology and passionate wine making coupled to an extrovert
character and a penchant for loud shirts have created a demand for his wine that is the envy of his contemporaries.
The reputation of the winery is built as much on the outstanding value of the everyday wines as it is on the quality of the flagship
bottles. The four ranges created by Marc and his team showcase the variety and quality of the wines available and ensure there
is something for every palate and every price point. New winemaker Gottfried Mocke, who joined from nearby winery Chamonix
and who is viewed as one of SA’s brightest young talents, is now on board and the future looks extremely bright for this
foremost South African winery
