Spain

Though having an abundance of native grapes, the majority of Spain's production is from twenty varieties, perhaps the most famous of which are Tempranillo and Garnacha. It is from these varieties that wine of Rioja and Ribera del Duero are made. Then there are great wines of North West, typically famous for its fresh whites that include Albariño, Godello and Verdejo. Then of course there are the wines of Cava, made in the same way as Champagne these offer a great alternative for complex sparkling wine.
